Head Coach Mary Byrne, now in her sixth season with the Alexandria volleyball team, knows where her team strengths lie, “We have a strong core of returning players and look to be strong with the serve/pass game and offensively,” said Byrne. “Our focus will be to improve defensively as the season progresses.” Byrne will be assisted by Sam Hess, Andrea Tripp and Morgan Scherber.
Returning starters include Hadley Thul (JR, Outside Hitter), Julia Doherty (JR, Defensive Specialist), Maddi Buysse (SR, Outside Hitter), Chloe Scholl (JR, Right Side) and Addie Rossum (JR, Right Side). Buysse, Thul and Scholl are team captains.
Aspen Gentile and Campbell Jenzen (SO, Outside Hitter) are also expected to be in the varsity rotation.
Coach Byrne says Willmar and Rocori are the favorites in the Central Lakes Conference with Detroit Lakes joining them as top teams in Section 8AAA.
