Replacing 6-year starting goalkeeper Sophia Vinje, all-state defender Ellen Panther and 2-time all-state forward Ella Westland will be a tall order for the Alexandria girls’ soccer team, however, second-year Head Coach Amy Korynta does have 13 players returning with varsity experience from their highly successful 16-3 Section 8AA championship team of a year ago.

“We have good team speed and are experienced with 9 of our starters having had starting experience last season,” acknowledged Coach Korynta.  “We need to continue to grow in our formation and attack to be successful in the Central Lakes Conference and Section 8AA.”

The lady Cards return seniors Sophia Korynta (Attacker, Leading Scorer in 2022), Elle Heydt (Midfielder, Assist Leader in 2022) and Greta Oldenkamp (Midfield), along with juniors Lydia Oldenkamp (Defender) and Allie Haabala (Midfield).  Heydt, Korynta and Greta Oldenkamp will serve as team captains.

Seniors Mikayla Eggen (Defender) and Aubrie Johnson (Keeper), juniors Layne Leimkuhl (Attacker), Avery Hanson (Midfield) and Paislee Dummer (Midfield), and sophomore Lilly Dutton (Midfield) will also be key varsity contributors.

Coach Korynta says Sartell, St. Cloud Tech and Brainerd are the top teams in the CLC and Section 8AA.

Assistant Coaches are Dwight Van Teeffelen, Kristen Faber and Kacey Lang.
