The Fergus Falls boys’ cross country team will have a tough act to follow as they compete during the 2023 season.  The Otters qualified for the State Class AA Meet last season and the good news for Head Coach Derek Meyer, now in his eighth season with the Otters, is that they return a large part of that team.  “We are returning 85% of the varsity roster that brought our team to state.  We have strong supporting teammates that will step up to fill in.  The number in the 7th and 8th grades is heading in the right direction to continue to reload the team each year.”

Seniors Jackson Lysne and Will Nuss will serve as team captains.  Juniors Jaden Miller, Henry Greenagel, Logan Bredenberg, Tommy Erickson and Michael Schmidt, and sophomores Matthew Tuel and Micah Mouser are back with extensive varsity experience.

“We have a couple of strong freshmen runners who will be making their 5K debut this year in Ethan Strande and Jaden Kwapinski,” added Coach Meyer.  “Alexandria will be a top conference and section contender.  I also see newcomer to the section, Perham, as an instant contender.”

Girls Head Coach Niki Welde and Josh Scharnberg will assist Coach Meyer.
