Replacing 4-year starting setter/middle hitter Maci Lake, libero Anna Vargo (1000+ career digs) and outside hitter Avory Haman will not be easy for the Sebeka Trojans.  “We have no seniors,” said Head Coach Becca Pulju, now in her 19th season, “however, we have a strong group of kids who have played a lot of volleyball.  We are athletic and quick, so defense will be a strength of ours.”

Returning letter winners from the Trojans team that finished 14-15 a year ago, advancing to the Section 5A semifinals, include juniors Annika Pulju (OH), Miranda Lillquist (OPP) and Jaylin Lillquist (S), and sophomore Kylah Watson (MH).  Sophomore Vyolette Lysne (OPP) will be expected to contribute at the varsity level.

“Jaylin is coming off an ACL injury that sidelined her all of last year,” reported Coach Pulju.  “It will be good to have her back running our offense.  She is an amazing setter, so she will put our hitters in a position to make plays.”

Jon Lillquist, Alicia Strayer and Emily Crabb will assist Coach Pulju.

Coach Pulju sees Nevis and Verndale as Section 5A favorites, with Wadena-Deer Creek joining Verndale as Park Region Conference front runners.
