Tessa Tysver begins year number 16 as Head Coach of the DGF Volleyball team with the hopes of improving on their 10-19 record of a year ago. “We will be a young team, but return some of our top hitters and blockers from last season,” said Coach Tysver. “We will look to continue to improve our passing and ball control to compete with the top teams in our conference and section.”
Assisting Tysver will be Andrea Anderson (JV), Steph Hanson (B), Serina Hanson (C) and Morgan Dalziel (Varsity Assistant).
DGF lost Peyton Backes, Madison Schmitt and Kaleigh Peterson to graduation. Peterson is playing college volleyball at M State in Fergus Falls.
Returning starters are senior captain Lailah Fuss (MH), juniors Maddy Iwen (S) and Makayla Bjelland (OH), sophomore Aria Garrett (MH) and freshman Camille Costello (L).
Newcomers to the varsity include seniors Kendall Krueger (RH) and Lauren Lowman (OH), junior Chloe Fuller (RH), sophomore Ellie Boyd (OH) and freshman Hallie Schrieber (S).
Tysver says Wadena-Deer Creek, Hawley and Perham are the top teams in Section 8AA, with Hawley and Perham the teams to beat in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference.
