The Bertha-Hewitt Bears are low in numbers, but return several players with varsity experience for the 2023 football season. “We don’t have a lot of depth and we only have two seniors on the roster, however, we are going to be more experienced, we are faster, and we have a great group of kids who whatever we ask them to do,” said third-year Head Coach Jared Hoemberg.
Returning starters include senior Aidan Bauch (RB/LB), juniors Cayden Kimber (RB/LB), Mason Sawyer (OL/DL) and Michael Proell (RB/LB), and sophomores Malaki Sales (OL/DL), Eli Powers (OL/DL), Trenton Becker (QB/DB), Quintin Flynn-Belevance (TE/OLB), and Rowan Hauer (TE/DE). Junior Owen Zigan (TE/DE) is a key newcomer for the Bears.
Cheyenne Dean, Aidan Bauch, Carter Wilhelmi and Cayden Kimber will serve as team captains.
Mike Barthel, Austin Selvey, David Mills and Zach Grewe will serve as assistant coaches.
Hoemberg says Ogilvie and Nevis will be favorites in Section 5-9 Man.
