Fergus Falls overcame a 3-1 deficit by scoring six times in the bottom of the sixth inning and then held on for a 7-6 victory over Carlos in the Region 16C State Qualifier Game on Sunday night at Cowboy Field in Breckenridge.  With the victory the Canes punch their 8th straight ticket to the State Amateur Baseball Tournament.

Alex Hexum (6IP, 7K, 3BB, 3H, 3R, 2ER) earned his fifth win of the season and Carter Thielke (3IP, 3K, 3BB, 2H, 3R, 2ER) picked up his second save of the year.

“Hexy and Carter pitched better that their stat lines show, allowing very little hard contact all day,” said Manager Davy Johnson of the Canes.  “Canes hitters hit the ball hard all day and really broke through in our 6-run 6th.”

Hitting leaders for Fergus Falls were Hensch (2-5, R, 2RBI) and Sean McGuire (1-5, R, 2B, 2RBI).  Mann, Darin Stanislawski and Pete Gaustad each collected 2 hits on the day.

In other games on Sunday: Urbank eliminated Alexandria 1-0 in 12 innings and Sauk Centre eliminated Ashby 9-1.

Region 16C action resumes on Friday at 8:00pm in Pelican Rapids with Urbank going up against Sauk Centre.  Carlos will play the winner of that game at 1:00pm Saturday in a State Qualifier Game.  The winner of that game will play Fergus Falls at 4:00pm Saturday in a seeding game.  All games will be played in Pelican Rapids.
