Ashby scored five runs in the fifth inning and went on to post a 5-1 win over Breckenridge in the Region 16C playoffs on Saturday. Winning pitcher Carter Spangler struck out 6 batters and went all nine innings as Ashby eliminated the Bucks from the Region Tournament.
Torin Olson drove in two runs to lead Ashby and Mason Hoff had two hits and one RBI. Brandon Christianson also knocked in a run for Ashby. Mitch Porter led Breckenridge with a pair of hits.
In other games on Saturday, Alexandria eliminated Kensington 6-4 and Carlos defeated Urbank 6-1. Fergus Falls was a 5-1 winner over Sauk Centre.
Sunday games will feature Alexandria against Urbank at 11:00am, Ashby versus Sauk Centre at 2:00pm in a State Qualifier Game and Fergus Falls facing Carlos at 5:00pm. All games will be played in Breckenridge.
