The Barnesville 15U Babe Ruth team won their first two games on Thursday in the first round of pool play at the Minnesota Intact State Tournament, being hosted by Bemidji and Blackduck.  Sixteen teams from around the state play 3 games in 4 pools, with the top two teams in each pool advancing to the championship tournament held on Saturday and Sunday.

Barnesville defeated Walker, 17-5 in 5 innings in their opening game.  Logan Ehlert was the winning pitcher, while Elias Cox and Major Ness led the offense, each going 3-for-3 with 3 runs batted in.

Barnesville shut down Kimball, 11-1 in five innings in their second game behind a strong pitching performance from draftee Wyatt Conklin (DGF Black).  Conklin (5IP, 2H, 5K) pitched out of a couple early bases loaded jams, yielding just one run.  Ehlert (2-2, 2RBI) and Cam Halverson (1-3, 3RBI) led the 10-hit attack.

Barnesville plays Albany at BSU on Friday.  Albany won both of their games on Thursday.
