Results from First Day of Pool Play at Midwest Regional Babe Ruth Tourney

Jake Solseng and Reeves Jorgensen combined on a 2-hit shutout Thursday as Park River, the North Dakota Class B Babe Ruth Champions, opened the Midwest Regional Babe Ruth Tournament with an 11-0 victory over host Ottertail Central at Tony Kawlewski Field in Henning.

Beck Thorson and Max Grove each had a single for the only hits of the day for OTC.

Jorgensen had 3 hits and drove in 3 runs to lead Park River.  Noah Truftgruben and Andrew Zikmund each had two runs batted in and Jaxon Omdahl had a pair of hits for the Pirates.   Solseng recorded six strikeouts in his four innings on the mound.

OTC will face Fergus Falls in their second Pool Play game at 7:00pm Friday night.  Fergus Falls won their first game, 7-4, over Border, Colorado.

Moorhead posted a 9-6 win over Charlston, Missouri in their first game of the tournament.  Williston, ND ended the first day of competition with a 10-0, 5-inning victory over Breckenridge.
