The Perham Buzz banged out 15 hits on Thursday as they defeated second-seeded Moorhead by the final score of 11-1, remaining undefeated in the double elimination event. The Buzz had 15 hits on the night, led by Seth Urbach (3-4, 2B, 2RBI), Evan Kovash (3-4, 2B, RBI, 2R), Blaiz Schmidt (3-4, 2B, 2RBI) and Ben Shumansky (1-3, HR, 3 RBI).
Perham started the game by driving home 3 base runners in the first inning. The Buzz added 4 more runs in the second to build a 7-0 lead. After yielding a run to Moorhead in the bottom of the third, Perham added 2 runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to close out the victory in 5 innings.
Evan Kovash (5IP, 4H, 11ER, 3BB, 5K) turned in a great pitching performance for the Buzz.
Perham will now play at 6:30pm Friday against to-seeded Bemidji. The Centaurs defeated Detroit Lakes, 6-0 in their Thursday game.
In elimination games, East Grand Forks knocked off Fergus Falls, 6-3, and Alexandria shutout Brainerd, 10-0.
