OTC 15U Black split their pool play games on the opening day of the 3rd annual Father’s Day Babe Ruth Tournament at Tony Kawlewski Field in Henning.  The tournament started with a high scoring battle between OTC and Detroit Lakes with DL winning, 13-11.  Albany then beat Crosby-Ironton, 6-1, and OTC won the final game of the day, defeating Bagley, 8-7.

In the loss to Detroit Lakes, Olin Link went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead OTC.  He also had two of the Dawgs 8 steals.  Max Mekalson and Ryan Despard each contributed 2 hits as the Bulldogs collected 12 total hits in the contest.  Kaleb Hammes (4IP, 2H, 4R, 4K) started the game on the mound for OTC.

In their second game of the day OTC held off a furious seventh inning rally by Bagley to post an 8-7 victory on Friday, surviving 7 errors in the contest.  OTC scored 3 in the first and 2 in the second to take a 5-0 lead, but Bagley came back with a single run in the third and two more in the fourth to cut the Bulldogs lead to 5-3.  A 3-run sixth by OTC gave them an 8-3 lead and Bagley’s 7th inning rally which saw four runners cross the plate, left the final at 8-7.

Ryan Despard had a pair of hits for the Dawgs, and two players, Ayden Olson and Olin Link drove in two runs each.  Kaleb Hammes drew 3 walks, Despard walked twice and Rowan Finseth also walked twice.  Dawson Bushman threw six-and-a-third innings, striking out 3 batters and gaining the victory.
