The Alexandria Cardinals are in third place after Day one of the Class AAA Boys State Golf Tournament at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids. Alexandria shot a team score of 306. Eastview had the top score with a 297, one stroke ahead of Edina (298). Mahtomedi is fourth with a 309 and Maple Grove is fifth with a 311. Minnetonka and Rochester Mayo turned in scores of 315.
Jake Birdwell of Spring Lake Park holds the first round individual lead with a 66 and Joe Honsa of Cretin-Derham Hall is in second place with a 68. Jack Hanson of Eastview and Ryan Stendahl of Maple Grove are tied for third with 69’s.
The Cardinals were led by Carver Larson and Jack Holtz with 74 and 75, respectively. Gabe Weller shot a 78, Braeden Sladek and William Thornburg came in with 79’s and Weston Nyberg had an 81.
