Hancock Track and Field Season Ends at Section Meet

The Hancock Owls track and field season wrapped up on Thursday at the Section meet in Montevideo.  The Owls didn’t have any state qualifiers, but they had four medal winners as Jackson Koehl took fourth in the high jump (6’ 0”), Jared Koehl took fifth in the triple jump with a season best of 40-feet-1-inch, Misti Zempel was sixth in the shot put with a PR of 33-feet-4-inches and Kaylee Wink was eighth in the 3200 meter run.  Also hitting season best marks were the girls 4x800 (11:01.09) team of Abby Nuest, Tabitha Bjerketvedt, Vivian Messner and Kaylynn Christianson finishing in 9th place, and Messner in the 800 meter run (2:40.73).

The Owls also had their end of the year dinner and awards presentation, honoring seniors Blake Koehl, Jackson Koehl, Sean Wilson and Brandi Messner.  Wilson and Eva Schaefer were team captains.

Award winners were as follows: Most Valuable – Jared Koehl and Eva Schaefer; Most Improved – Brayden Kisgen and Karina Koehl; Rookie of the Year – Jackson Koehl and Steph Weber; Most Dedicated (voted on by team) – Sean Wilson and Kaylee Wink; Most Potential (voted on by upperclassmen) – Jett Nuest and Giana Feuchtenberger.
