The Perham Yellowjackets are Section 8AA Baseball Champions. The Yellowjackets earned the title with a 7-0 victory over Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on Tuesday at Al Krueger Field at Tuffy’s Stadium in Perham. Evan Kovash blanked the Rebels on 4 hits, striking out 5 batters as he fired a complete game.
Offensive leaders for Perham were Ashton Detloff (2-3, RBI, 2R), Blaiz Schmidt (2-3, SB), Austin Schmelz (1-1, 2B, 2BB, RBI, R), Kovash (1-4, RBI), Gamble Bye (1-3 SB, RBI, R) and Gavin Griffin (1-4, RBI). Seth Urbach drew a walk, stole a base and scored a run.
Carsen Berreth went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Rebels. Landon Johnson had a double in 3 trips to the plate and Austin Anderson went 1-for-3.
DGF recorded a 7-3 win over East Grand Forks in the first game of the day, earning the opportunity to face Perham in the Section Championship game.
