Roseau eliminated Ottertail Central in the Section 8AA Baseball Tournament on Monday, posting a 14-3 win at Krueger Field in Perham.  OTC finishes their season with a record of 19-5.  The Rams were then eliminated by Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, 7-2.  DGF will play East Grand Forks in an elimination game at noon on Tuesday in Perham.

Roseau scored 3 times in the top of the first inning as Cooper Flaig launched a monstrous home run to left field for a 1-0 lead.  A two-out, 2-run double by AJ Klint gave the Rams a 3-0 lead.  OTC got on the board in the bottom of the first when Tyson Misegades walked, advanced to third base on a pair of wild pitches, and scored on a double by Lane Dilly.  Roseau added 3 more runs in the top of the second when Jack Haugen led off with a single and moved to third base on two wild pitches and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Gavin Jensen.  A two-out error allowed Flaig to reach base and kept the inning alive for Aaron Wensloff who belted a two-run homer, handing the Rams a 6-1 lead.  Two fifth inning errors pushed the Roseau lead to 7-1.  OTC scored twice in the bottom of the fifth, cutting the lead to 7-3, however, a 7-run seventh inning by the Rams put the game away.  The inning was highlighted by a 2-run single by Haugen and a bases loaded 3-run double by Aaron Wensloff.

Cody Otto (5IP, 3K, 2BB, 5H, 3ER) was the winning pitcher for the Rams and Jensen threw two scoreless innings of relief.  Lane Dilly (3IP, 6H, 6R, 4ER, 1BB, 1K) suffered his first loss in nine decisions this season.

Perham is the only unbeaten team remaining in the double elimination tournament after their 2-1, 8-inning victory over the Greenwave.  Perham will await the winner of the DGF vs EGF game and will face them for the title at 2:30pm.  If Perham loses that game, another game will be played on Thursday to determine the Section 8AA champion.

“Ottertail Central had an outstanding season, we had a lot of individual and team records set,” commented Head Coach Ryan Hendrickson.  “I am most proud of the teamwork that the guys used to win a record amount of OTC Baseball games.  We didn't win off of homeruns or overpowering pitching, we won off of team offense and team defense.  At any point of any game our guys were competing with everything they had and were truly fun to watch and coach.  Our seniors had a great year.  To Hunter, Tyson, Jayden and Garrett we wish you well, we thank you for your commitment, dedication and leadership throughout the years; you are always welcome back in any manner for OTC Baseball.  Thank you Ottertail Central Communities for all of your support, this was one heck of a ride. I am excited to see what the summer seasons bring us in preparation for next season!
