The Alexandria Cardinals hosted Sauk Rapids-Rice in Section 8AAA playoff action on Tuesday afternoon at Knute Nelson Field. The Cardinals scored 3 times in the first inning, added a single run in the third and broke the game open when they pushed across 7 runs in the fourth to complete an 11-0, 3-hit victory over the Storm.
Winning pitcher Jaxon Schoenrock (5IP, 3K, 3H, 0R) was backed up at the plate by Augie Gulbranson (2H), Jordan Kuhnau (2H), Caleb Gimbel (3 RBI), Tyler Kludt (2 RBI) and Cameron Simon (2 RBI).
The Cardinals will now face the winner of the Willmar vs Rocori game at 4:30pm Thursday. If Rocori wins that game, the Cardinals will travel to Cold Spring for Thursday’s matchup. If Willmar comes out on top, Alexandria will host the Thursday contest.
