The Ottertail Central baseball team moved to 17-3 as they defeated Brandon-Evansville 11-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout.  Gavin Pausch (4IP, 4H, 2K, 1BB, 0R) was the winning pitcher and Owen Harig threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen, striking out Dezmond White to finish off the game.

OTC notched five runs in the fifth inning.  Tyson Misegades, Kale Misegades and Pausch each collected two hits in the game.  Noah Link said, “This is the perfect time to be playing some of our best baseball.  Let’s keep this rolling through the playoffs.”

Ottertail Central will now host their first section playoff game.  The Bulldogs will be the high seed and host on Tuesday at Tony Kawlewski Field in Henning at 5:00pm.  The official brackets will not come out until Saturday, but OTC is more than likely going to be the second seed and host seventh-seeded Fergus Falls in the Section 8AA Tournament.  The winner will proceed to the double elimination playoffs to be held at Perham.

“OTC is really a nice ball club who have quality pitchers, play good defense, and put pressure on you offensively,” stated Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Brian Perleberg.  “They will certainly make some noise in their section tournament next week.  We had chances in the first two innings to score some runs and make a game of it, but just couldn’t get that timely hit when we needed it, and they cashed in on their opportunities.  Some days, that’s just how the game goes.  All in all, I felt we improved in some areas we had been struggling in and made some changes in the lineup that provided positive results, so even though the score was lopsided, we are continuing to learn and will now set our sights on the post season.”

Carter White, Brady Perleberg, Landon Sullivan, Kyler Sletto and Kian Gackle recorded hits for B-E.
