Fergus Falls 12U Sweeps Detroit Lakes 12U

The Fergus Falls Otters 12u baseball team hosted Detroit Lakes 12u on a beautiful Tuesday night at Grotto Park. The Otters sunk the Lakes by the scores of 7-4 and 8-1.

In the first game, Isaac Jenc toed the rubber for the Otters and started the Otters out strong by going 3 and 1/3 innings while only giving up 3 hits and striking out 6. Hayden Heruth slammed the door in the last inning and two thirds by only giving up one hit and striking out 4. The Otters struck first in the bottom of the first inning with Dexter Felstul singling and coming around to score on a passed ball. Jace Kremeier followed with a single, Chase Johnston got hit by a pitch and Gus Proudfoot walked to load the bases. Kai Ebert stepped up to bat with the bases load and coaxed a walk to score Kremeier. Johnston scored on a passed ball to make the score 3-0. Also in the inning, Beau Schlosser walked to again load the bases, but the Otters were unable push any additional runs across. In the bottom of the third, the Otters added another run with Johnston doubling and coming around to score on a wild pitch. The Lakers battled back in in the top of the 4th to tie the game at 4. The Otters showed their resiliency by pushing three runs across in the bottom of the 4th with Cade Johnson walking and coming around to score on Landon Noon’s single. Felstul scored Noon on a fielder’s choice. Heruth wrapped up the scoring by doubling home Felstul.

In the second game of the twin bill, Felstul got the nod on the mound and pitched a game for the Otters. Felstul went 4 innings, only giving up one hit and one run, while striking out 10. The Lakers struck first by scoring their lone run in the top of the first but the Otters responded by scoring 3 in the bottom of the first with Jenc tripling and coming around to score on Felstul’s triple who scored on a wild pitch. Also in the first,Heruth singled in the and also scored on a wild pitch. Noon led off the bottom of the 3rd by getting hit by a pitch and coming around to score on Jenc’s fielder’s choice. In the 3rd, Felstul singled Jenc in and scored on a dropped third strike and Kremeier doubled and advanced to third on Johnston’s single. The Otters wrapped up the scoring in the third when Proudfoot stepped to the plate and roped a single to center scoring Kremeier and Johnston.

With the two wins, the Otters improved to 5-2 on the season and travel to Underwood to take on OTC on Wednesday night.
