The Fergus Falls girls’ track and field team placed sixth out of nine teams in the Central Lakes Conference Meet at Sartell on Tuesday, scoring 49 points.  Estee Versteeg and Ella Starzl earned All-Conference honors, Versteeg with a second place in the mile and Starzl with a third place in the long jump.

All-Conference Honorable Mention went to Versteeg with a fourth in the 2 mile, Violet McConn with a fifth in the 400, Cassie Wellman with a sixth in the mile, and Starzl with a sixth in the high jump.

“Estee Versteeg’s efforts in the mile and the two mile moved her closer to both school records,” said Head Coach Nike Welde.  “She came to the two mile late this season and is quickly moving up in the Conference and section in that event.  She is dropping time each meet.  Ella had a season best long jump to place her in the top three.  She ran on our two spring relays in addition to the jumps, juggling three of her four events at the same time.  It can be overwhelming, but she handled it like a veteran.  Caddie continues to perform well under pressure and Violet continues to impress us with her performance.  She seems to have found her niche in the 400.”

The Otters will compete in the Section 8AA meet next week with prelims and half of the field events at Rocori on Wednesday, and the finals and the other half of the field events on Saturday in Detroit Lakes.
