M State Women’s Basketball Coach Jodi Holleman has announced the signing of three area student-athletes for the 2023-2024 season.  Maddie Ballweg and Madi Foss from Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, and Nevaeh Williams of Waubun High School, will attend M State in Fergus Falls in the fall and join the Spartans on the court.

“I am super excited to add these 3 athletes to our Spartan roster next year,” said Holleman.  “We are hoping that they will make an immediate impact.  They are fundamentally sound and excellent athletes.”

Ballweg scored 454 points her senior year, including career point 1000 against Battle Lake in February.  She averaged 16 points per game, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists.  “Maddie has a nice head fake and drive to the hoop, and she can knock down 3’s,” noted Holleman.  Ballweg was a first team All-Conference selection in the Little 8.

Williams, a 4-year varsity letter winner and a Pine to Prairie All-Conference athlete, led her team in blocks, and was voted Teammate of the Year twice.  She played for the Fierce AAU Program since 2019.  “Nevaeh always has a huge smile and has a positive impact on her teammates,” stated Coach Holleman.  “She will be looked at to dominate in the Post next season.”

Foss scored 165 points this past season and had 26 blocks.  She averaged 5.9 points per game, 8.6 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 3 assists.  Madi had a double-double on Senior Night with 14 points and 10 rebounds against Lake Park-Audubon.  “Madi will be a utility player for the Spartans and able to play any position on the court,” added Holleman.
