Warriors Fall to Morris, Win Slugfest against Paynesville

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross fell behind 4-0 in the first inning of their Saturday softball contest with Morris.  The Warriors rallied to cut the lead to 4-3 after five innings, but couldn’t complete the comeback as they fell one run short. 

Anna Bright settled in after the first, scattering 7 hits, walking one, striking out one and allowing 3 earned runs.  Jadyn Kellen went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run batted in.  Jordyn Perry was 1-for-3 with a double and a RBI, Hadley Berger was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored, and Emily Drewicke also had one hit in three at bats scoring a run.

In another Saturday game, the Warriors posted a 10-8 win over Paynesville, collecting 10 hits in the game.  They were led by Drewicke (4-4, 2 2B, 3B, 3RBI, 2R), Megyn Kelly (1-4, 2RBI, 2R), Addison Blume (2-4, 2B, 2RBI, R), Kellen (1-3, RBI, 2R) and Perry (1-3, RBI, R).  Bright pitched 4 scoreless innings in relief of Kellen, allowing only 2 hits.
