The Fergus Falls softball team suffered a pair of Central Lakes Conference losses to Rocori on Monday, falling 9-2 and 13-3, and then split a pair of games with Alexandria, losing 5-4 in the first game and then winning the second one, 7-6.  Both games went 8 innings.

Karyssa Eberle struck out 13 batters in the 9-2 loss to Rocori.  Jen Neigel (2K) made her first varsity start for the second game, with Rylynn Krein (6K) coming on in relief to finish the game.  Eberle (5H) and Krein (3H) led the team in batting.

“We missed two of our starters tonight, so I knew going into the game that it was going to be an adjustment,” stated Head Coach Devonie Smith.  “We had players in positions they had rarely played and some of our JV players had some varsity opportunities.  We haven’t had too many opportunities to practice with the game schedule we’ve had, so everyone adjusted the best they could.”

On Tuesday, the Otters played a pair of games against Alexandria, winning game two, 7-6, and losing the first game by the score of 5-4.  Krein (8K, BB) went the distance in the circle and Kendal Hanson had a walk-off single to lift the Otters to a 4-3 victory.

Krein had a momentum changer in the first game, launching a home run over centerfield.  McKenzie Sjolie and Neigel had strong plate appearances as both players collected 4 hits over the two games.

“These were fun games to be a part of,” shared Coach Smith.  “I’m proud of how hard these girls continued to fight to overcome obstacles thrown in their way throughout the games.  They never gave up and it showed as we were able to pull out the win n the last game.”
