Brandon-Evansville recorded a softball split with Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Tuesday, falling in game one and winning game two, 2-1.

“We started slow in the first game, putting two runs on the board right away, but we struggled to get anything going after that,” reported B-E Head Coach Kasi Sieling.  “CGB hit the ball extremely well and we had a difficult time limiting their bases and getting out of innings before they put several runs on the board.  I thought we did a nice job in this game of putting the ball in play, but just couldn’t get enough timely hits to come out on top.”

CGB led 5-4 after 4 innings in the opener.  The Wolverines then broke the game open with 5 runs in the fifth and 3 more in the sixth.  Brandon-Evansville pushed across 4 runs in the top of the seventh to put the final score at 13-8.  Chloe Cardwell (7IP, 9H, 8R, 6ER, 6BB, 6K) was the winning pitcher.  The Wolverines were led at the plate by Jordan Wright (3-4, 2 2B, 2RBI, 3R), M Hennessy (2-3, 2B, HR, 4RBI, 2R), Hayley Ward (2-3, 2B, RBI, 2R), Jessica Moberg (2-4, 2R) and Alaina Andrews (1-3, 2B, RBI, R).

Top producers for the Chargers were Hadley Baune (1-3, 2RBI, R, 2SB), Ava Santjer (2-4, 2B, R), Hallie Richter (2-5, SB, RBI, R) and Taylin Kramer (1-4, 2B, 2RBI).

Game two leaders for CGB were Chloe Cardwell (4.2IP, H, 2R, 1ER, 3BB, 3K), Jessica Moberg (2-2), Hayley Ward (1-2, BB, RBI) and Addison Ward (1-2, R).

Hallie Richter had the only hit and only RBI in game two for Brandon-Evansville.  Sydney Schaefer and Ava Santjer scored the runs.  Schaefer and Taylin Kramer each stole a base for the Chargers.

Kylee Dingwall (5IP, 5H, ER, 2BB, 2K) threw a great game and the defense made some huge plays to back her up,” noted Coach Sieling. “The girls did a nice job of executing our bunts to get runners on and move them around to take the lead. CGB had some big hits in the 5th inning, but Sydney Schaefer made an outstanding throw to get the go ahead run out at the plate and take us into the bottom of the 5th tied 1-1. Following an error and a walk we had runners on 2nd and 3rd and Hallie Richter laid down an excellent squeeze bunt to bring in the winning run. It was a battle, and the girls did an awesome job of doing what they needed to do so we could come home with a split against a tough team.”
