Perham Beats Hawley Twice in HOL Baseball

The Perham baseball team recorded a pair of wins against Hawley on Tuesday, winning 11-0 and 19-9.  Austin Schmelz (6IP, 2H, 0R, 1BB, 8K) held the Nuggets to just two hits in posting the shutout in game one.  In the second game, Perham scored 11 first inning runs on the way to the sweep.

Evan Kovash drove in 4 runs in the opener, going 2-for-3 at the plate.  He also scored 3 times.  Gage Aanenson was 2-for-4 with a double, triple and 3 RBI.  Schmelz (3-4, RBI, R), helped his own cause at the plate, and Gavin Griffin contributed 2 hits in 4 at bats, scoring once.

Mason Gratton and Tommy Slette had the only hits for Hawley.

Game two leaders for the Yellowjackets were Kovash (4-4, 2B, 2RBI, 4R), Aanenson (3-3, 2B, 3B, 6RBI, 2R), Schmelz (1-4, 2B, 3RBI, R) and Blaiz Schmidt (2-4, RBI, 2R).  Omar Briseno (3IP, 9H, 6R, 4ER, 2K, 0BB) was the winning pitcher.

Leading hitters for Hawley were Cale Kosmatka (3-4, RBI, 3R), Jayden Ambuehl (2-3, 2B, 2RBI), Owen Becker (1-3, 2RBI) and Aiden Eilertson (1-4, 2RBI).
