The Fergus Falls girls’ golf team played Day 1 of the Central Lakes Conference Team Championship on Monday, with Day 2 scheduled for next Monday at the Territory in St. Cloud.  After Day 1, the Otters are tied for third with Sartell.  Alexandria is in the lead and Brainerd is second.

Medalist honors for the first round went to Izzy Olson of Brainerd with a one-under par, 71.  She was followed by Alexandria’s Hannah Boraas with a 75 and Annika Jyrkas of Fergus Falls with a 78.

Other Otter scores included an 89 from Annie Mayer, a 96 from Olivia Jurgens and a 108 from Ellie BergrenHanna Bye and Shay Katzenmeyer each shot rounds of 117.

“It was an absolutely beautiful day in Cold Spring at Rich Springs Golf Course,” commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “The greens were by far the best we have seen all year, smooth and quick!  Our team score was a little higher than we would have liked, but that’s okay.  We need to find out what we shot when we don’t play our best golf.  I think all of the girls would agree that when we are not at our best we need to be better than we were today.  So we are always learning and looking at areas of our game we need to improve.”
