The Perham baseball team registered a 5-3 win over Watertown-Mayer on Friday with the Yellowjackets taking a 3-1 lead in the second inning and never trailing the game. Winning pitcher Blaiz Schmidt scattered 9 hits over 5 innings as Watertown-Mayer stranded 13 runners on base. Evan Kovash threw two hitless innings of relief to notch the save.
At the plate, Perham was led by Schmidt (2-3, RBI, SF), Kovash (2-3, 2B, RBI) and Austin Schmelz (1-4, 2RBI, R). Gage Aanenson (1-4, R) and Gavin Griffin (1-4, R) each added a hit and scored a run for the Yellowjackets.
