Hudson VerSteeg struck out 8 batters and allowed just one hit on Friday as he led the Hancock Owls to a 13-4 win over Canby. Hancock took a 3-0 lead in the second inning, gave up a run in the third and added two runs in the fourth for a 5-1 lead. Canby cut the lead to 5-4 with a 3-run fifth, but the Owls finished strong with 3 in the 6th and 5 more in the 7th. Hancock had 11 hits on the day.
Davin Rose keyed the offensive attack with 3 hits and 3 runs batted in. Chase Evink added a pair of hits and Sebastian Salas had two hits and 3 RBI. Ambrose Rinkenberger also contributed 2 RBI for the Owls.
