The Parkers Prairie baseball team finished of their week with a tidy 10-0 win in five innings on Friday against Pillager.  “While we only banged out 4 official hits, we hit the ball hard and took advantage of Pillager miscues on defense, and ran the bases well enough,” stated Head Coach Derek Denny of the Panthers.  “The real story in this game, however, was on the mound and our defense.”

Joe Johnson had the big hit in the game as had a bases loaded double to score three runs in the first inning.

David Revering was in cruise control as he gave up only one hit and struck out 5,” reported Coach Denny. “The defense played clean and David issued no free passes, so very nearly a perfect game!  The defensive play of the game was a diving catch at short by Nolan Steidl for the second out in the fifth.  Nolan also laid down the ‘bunt of the year’ this far, as he dropped a textbook bunt down the third base line in the first, allowing hi m to easily reach and advance both runners.  With the long ball getting so much love lately, we have to give a little love for so e small ball!”

After a 1-5 start the JV team kept their 7 game win streak alive with a 4-3 thriller against Pillager.  Colin Koep got his first win of the year, pitching all 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and one earned run, while striking out 5 batters.  45 of his 64 pitches were strikes. Hudson Truax delivered a clutch 2-out double to get the go ahead runs across the plate in the fourth inning.

The 7th graders from Parkers Prairie also won, overcoming a 4-0 deficit to post a 9-4 win.  Merrick Hoffman tossed four hitless innings, fanning 7 of the last 8 batters he faced.  Owen Olson followed up his no-hitter from Monday with two more hitless innings in relief of Hoffman, striking out 5 batters.
