Sophomore Logan Larson pitched 5 shutout innings, striking out six West Central Area batters and leading the Fergus Falls baseball team to a 2-0 win over the Knights on Friday in Barrett.  Larson also reached base 3 times, stole 3 bases and scored one of the Otters runs as they recorded just their second win of the season in ten games.

The Otters scored their first run in the fourth inning when Ben Swanson walked to lead off the inning, took second on a sacrifice bunt that turned into an error, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Bo Bring and then scored on a wild pitch.  Their second run came an inning later.  Larson reached on an error and stole second bases.  He then scored on a double by Kellen Stenstrom.  Stenstrom’s two-base hit was the only safety for the Otters in the game.

Carston Fronning pitched the final two innings to earn the save.  He had to work his way out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh after allowing an infield single and hitting two batters to create the situation.  West Central Area left 9 runners stranded on the base paths in the game.

Losing pitcher Ben Bye struck out 8 batters in six-and-two-thirds innings.  Neither of the runs he allowed were earned.  The Knights only had four hits on the night with singles from Brayden Stark, Adam Lohse and Jack Courrier, and a double from Ty Fuoss.

West Central Area fell to 4-7 with the loss.  They will play a game at Morris Area/chokio-Alberta on Tuesday in Morris.

Fergus Falls (2-8) has a road game at Crookston on Tuesday.
