Fergus Falls hosted a Central Lakes Conference girls’ golf tournament at Pebble Lake Golf Course on Thursday.  Alexandria won the event with a 311 and Brainerd was second with a 321.  Fergus Falls fired a 342 to finish third, ahead of Sartell at 355 and Sauk Rapids-Rice with a 442.

“The girls have had a really good week, playing solid on Monday in Park Rapids and again today at home,” said Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “For the second straight meet the Otter girls have all shot their best high school rounds.”

Hannah Boraas of Alexandria was the medalist with a 71, tying her season best score for the Cardinals.  Annika Jyrkas of Fergus Falls was second with a 72, Izzy Olson of Brainerd took third with a 73, Aisling O’Connor of Alexandria shot a 76 to finish fourth, Sophia Karsnia of Brainerd was fifth with a 77 and two players, Madelyn Holmstrom of Brainerd and Ellie Sticha of Alexandria tied for sixth with rounds of 80.  Annie Mayer of the Otters was eighth with an 81.

The rest of the Otter scores saw Olivia Jurgens shoot a 92, Ellie Bergren card a 97, Hanna Bye finish with a 98 and Shay Katzenmeyer come in with a 112.

“These girls are putting in the work,” said Jurgens.  “They are practicing on their own after hours and it is starting to show in their scores.  We are very excited to see their work pay off.  We all know we have continued areas to improve on, but it’s nice seeing some results.  We just want to by playing our best in late May through June!”

Other Alexandria scores had Rachel Bowen with an 84, Grace Herzog an 85 and Cadence Simon an 88.

“The team was happy to have a short rid home, so they can get a good night’s sleep,” said Alexandria Head Coach Tim Zupfer. “They will be on the road early Friday morning heading to Headwaters Golf Club in Park Rapids for the Pre-Section Meet.”
