A walk-off single led Ottertail Central past Wadena-Deer Creek 7-6 on Thursday at Siebert Field on the campus of the University of Minnesota.  The game was tied at six with OTC batting in the bottom of the seventh when Noah Link singled on an 0-2 count, scoring pinch-runner Ryan Despard who was running in place of Hunter Haugen.

The Bulldogs built a six-run lead in the third inning and then held off a charge by the Wolverines.  WDC scored five runs in the failed comeback on doubles by Tyson Barthel, Evan Lunde, Connor Dutke and Isaac Hamann, and a single by Kobe Snyder.

“This was a tough inning for us,” said OTC Coach Ryan Hendrickson.  “We had a 6-run lead and gave up 6, but it was really credited to WDC as they just strung some hits together.  Our guys responded well, nobody hung their head, they were on a mission to get the runs back.”

Lane Dilly (3IP, 0R, 0H, 2K) earned the win in relief of starter Gavin Pausch (4IP, 6R, 9H, 1BB, 2K).

Assistant Coach Evan Meece had these comments on the pitching staff, “Gavin threw really well.  He gave us a great start.  Wadena went on a tear in the fourth inning, which put Lane in a big spot to gain the win.  As usual, our one-two punch put us in a great spot to win the game.”

Link went 3-for-4 at the plate and also drove in 4 runs, all on his birthday!  Pausch led the Bulldogs with 3 stolen bases.

With weather related changes the Ottertail Central schedule has them playing again Friday at 5:00pm against Breckenridge at Tony Kawlewski Field in Henning.
