Parkers Prairie continued to hit the ball well as they beat USA 10-2 on Thursday. Dylan Debilzen got the start and threw 5 and 2/3 innings before reaching the maximum pitch count. Debilzen had 7 strikeouts, 2 walks, allowed no earned runs and gave up 7 hits. Debilzen led the charge offensively as well. He had two home runs and a single, driving in six runs.
Zach Mrnak also got to take a home run trot around the bases as he went yard in the third inning. Nolan Steidl had a pair of hits and Mason Boesl stole four bases on the day. Shane Hanson did a good job in relief of Debilzen on the mound.
The JV team won on a walk-off steal of home by Brant Bak. USA took the lead in the top of the second and totaled 5 hits on the day off of Trevor Rounds who pitched 5 innings, giving up one walk and one earned run while striking out 4 on 71 pitches. Down 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth (last inning) Chavous Wendt drew a walk followed by a Trevor Rounds single on a hit and run. Gavin Boesl got the tying run in on a sacrifice fly. A fielder’s choice by Leighton Gesell advanced Rounds to second who was replaced by Brant Bak as a pinch runner. A hard ground ball to third by Ben Wagner forced an error and made it a first and third situation with 2 outs. 3 pitches later Bak stole home on a passed ball on a close play to win the game! Great defense, pitching, and base running helped in the win.
