The Cardinals finished in 3rd place at Minnewaska, behind Elk River and Detroit Lakes.  The team got off to a rocky start, but rallied in the middle of the event to pull even with Detroit Lakes and just a few shots behind Elk River.  However, the team struggled to the finish line giving up a number of shots over the last few holes.

“The Saturday event has grown in popularity and attracts many of the best teams in the state,” noted Alexandria Head Coach Tim Zupfer.  “This year we had 5 of the top 10 ranked teams and another top 20 team competing.” 

The Cardinals had a much better scoring day on Saturday and finished 2nd to #2 ranked Maple Grove.  Maple Grove was last year's runner up to the Cardinals at the AAA State Tournament.  “They have their entire team back,” said Zupfer.  “We managed to finish ahead of highly ranked Chaska, Elk River, Eden Prairie, and Minnewaska.  We were happy to defeat Elk River, a team that bettered us Friday at Minnewaska!  All of the players had to battle the weather, which was cool, windy and rainy!”

The team has another busy week, with a Central Lakes Conference Meet Monday in St. Cloud, another Central Lakes Conference Meet Thursday in Fergus Falls, and the Pre-section meet Friday in Park Rapids.
