The Parkers Prairie Panthers wrapped up a busy week with a trip to Verndale to take on the Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders in a double header.  The Panthers cruised to an 11-1 win in 5 innings in the first game and then won game two with ease, 21-2.

Joe Johnson had a career day at the plate in the opener as he launched three home runs and drove home 8 runs for the Panthers.  Johnson hit a 3-run home run in the third, a 2-run home run in the fourth and another 3-run home run in the fifth for a total of 8 RBI.  “Joe is the first Panther to do this in school history, and this outing will put him in the MSHSL record books for home runs in a single game,” said Parkers Prairie Head Coach Derek Denny.

David Revering got the start on the mound and went the distance to gain the victory.  Defensive play of the game goes to Isaac Grabow as he gunned down a runner trying to take third for the final out in the third inning.

Dylan Debilzen was on the mound in game two and he fanned 11 Raiders.  The Panthers turned in a couple of defensive gems, including a beautiful 4-6-3 double play in the first and a diving catch by Shane Hanson in the second.  Nolan Steidl had 3 hits and 4 RBI and Cohen Noska had 2 hits and 4 RBI to lead the offensive effort.  Altogether, the Panthers pounded in most of their runs, producing 19 RBI in the game.  “It was one of those games where we were hitting on all cylinders up and down the lineup, including our bench, as everyone got action in this one,” noted Coach Denny.  “Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale had a tough night in the field.  All-in-all it was a good week as the Panthers went 4-0.”

The JV kept rolling with wins of 10-0 and 16-3 in 5 innings.  Winning pitchers were Trevor Rounds (5IP, 3H, 0BB, 9K) and Gavin Boesl (4IP, 2H, 3R, 3BB, 3K).  Colin Koep shut down the last inning with 2 strikeouts.  Offensively, the Panthers totaled 20 hits and batted around twice.

The junior high team gained another split, winning 14-4 and losing 5-1.
