The Brandon-Evansville softball team traveled to Hancock on Thursday and returned home with a double header sweep of the Owls, posting wins of 14-4 and 18-2.  The Owls capitalized on 4 errors and 13 walks in game one, while collecting 9 hits.

Taylin Kramer (3-5, SB, 3RBI, 2R, BB) and Hadley Baune (2-4, 2B, 2RBI, 3R, BB) had multiple hits for the Chargers.  Tahira Shaffran (1-2, 2B, BB, 2R), Sophie Koep (1-4, RBI, 2R, BB), Sydney Schaefer (1-4, SB, RBI, R, BB) and Kylee Dingwall (SB, 2R) led the offensive effort for B-E.  Kramer (5IP, 3H, 1ER, 7BB, 8K) was the winning pitcher.

Leaders for Hancock in the opener were Kaitlyn Rohloff (1-1, 2RBI, 2BB) and Mattia Nelson (1-4, 2B).  The Owls drew 11 walks in the game, but were held to just 4 hits.

Second game leaders for the Chargers were Sydney Schaeffer (3-3, 2B, 2SB, 4RBI, 2R, BB), Kendra Klimek (2-3, RBI, 3R), Dingwall (2-3, RBI, BB, 3R), Ava Santjer (1-1, 2RBI, 2R, BB) and Hallie Richter (1-1, SB, 2BB, 2R).  Baune scored 3 runs and drove in a run, while also stealing a base.  Dingwall (4IP, 2H, 2R, 0ER, 4BB, 6K) was the winning pitcher for B-E.

The only two hits for Hancock were singles by Alex Villela and Rylie Mattson.  Mattson also had a run batted in and Villela scored a run.

“These were two good team victories,” stated Head Coach Kasi Sieling of the Chargers. “In game 1 we played clean defense and did a nice job of making plays to back up Taylin and Claire.Boesl. Coming off of two tough losses yesterday it was nice to see the girls make the adjustments we talked about yesterday, learn from those losses and play together to get come out with two big conference wins. Kylee did a nice job of maintaining control in the circle in game 2 and helped keep the defense focused on making plays to get out of innings. Offensively, it was good to see the girls to come in with a more aggressive mindset and ready to hit the ball hard and make things happen. We were able to get all of the girls opportunities in different parts of the lineup throughout the two games and it was fun to see everyone collect hits and make plays in the field.”
