Brandon-Evansville traveled to Wheaton on Thursday for a baseball double header with Border West.  The Buccaneers were 4-2 winners in the first game and they took game two, 5-2.

Border West grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the first game, thanks to some suicide squeeze bunts.  B-E rallied when Lucas Fuller hit a home run in the top of the fifth, tying the game at 2-2, but Border West responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the fifth and held on for the win.

“All in all we just made too many little mistakes in order to come out on top,” stated Head Coach Brian Perleberg of Brandon-Evansville.  “We had some good chances to get back in this game, but didn’t take advantage of those opportunities.  Give credit to Border West, they played well defensively and kept putting pressure on us all game.”

In the second game the Chargers led 2-0 after three innings, but Border West put together a big 5 run fourth inning to come away with the victory.

“We played well in four of the five innings, but unfortunately shot ourselves in the foot too many times,” noted Perleberg.  “Hopefully, we can learn from some of the things that happened today and make a few adjustments.  On a positive note, Bryce Froemming collected his first varsity hit and both Desmond White and Riley Perleberg continued putting good swings on the ball.”
