The Brandon-Evansville Chargers played two games on Wednesday, falling to Upsala, 10-0, and losing to Swanville, 10-8.  “These were two games we learned a lot from and will continue to improve as the season quickly progresses,” said B-E Head Coach Kasi Sieling.

The Chargers managed only five hits in the loss to Upsala, singles by Sydney Schaefer, Kylee Dingwall, Madi Stich, Tahira Schaffran and Hadley Baune.

Upsala was led by Hailie Luedtke (1-3, 4RBI, R, BB, SB), Erica Roske (3-4, 2B, 2R), Molly Leners (2-5, 2B, RBI, R) and Brenna Graves (2-4, RBI, R).  The winning pitcher was Isabella Leners (7IP, 5H, 1BB, 9K, 0R).

“Upsala is a talented team that hit the ball well and we were not able to make the plays we needed to,” said Coach Seiling.  “Offensively, we put the ball in play, but struggled to put multiple hits together and move runners around.  Taylin Kramer (5.1IP, 7H, 9R, 5ER, 7BB, 6K) threw the ball well, but we made too many mistakes that Upsala was able to capitalize on.”

Kendra Klimek (1-3, 2RBI, R, BB), Schaefer (1-3, 2SB, 2R, BB), Kramer (1-3, 2RBI), Sophie Koep (1-3, 2B, RBI, BB) and Hallie Richter (0-3, 2R, SB, BB) led the Chargers at the plate in game two.

Leaders for Swanville were Avery Douglas (3-4, 2R, SB), Lauren Miller (2-3, RBI, 2R, SB), Abbigail Morris (2-2, 3SB, 2R, RBI, 2BB), Therese Bryce (2-4, 2B, SB, RBI, R) and Amelia Hudalla (2-3, 2RBI).

“We dug ourselves a hole early in the game and just weren’t able to come all the way back,” stated Coach Sieling.  “After making some early miscues the girls did a nice job of making adjustments and learning from their mistakes to make the plays later in the game.  We struggled early to get something going on the offensive end, but were able to string hits together and move runners around in the later innings.”
