On Tuesday night the Ashby-Brandon-Evansville and West Central Area Track and Field teams competed at the Minnewaska Area Invitational. Full results can be found here.
“It was a very windy night, but despite that, our athletes competed hard through every race,” said Head Coach Robert Bosma of Ashby-Brandon-Evansville. “There were a lot of absolute stud athletes at this meet, some with hardware from last year’s state meet, but our team stayed with them in many races and events. In almost every race, you could see the wind affect an athlete, but with heads down into the wind, the A-B-E runners battled.”
Top six performances for the boys included a third place in the pole vault for Dierk Goeden and a sixth place in the 4x800 relay with the team of Kaleb Fuglseth, Kenneth Spielman, August Bredberg and Micah Fossell.
Lucea Wales led the girls with a second place in the 300 hurdles and a fourth in the 100 hurdles. Ashley Paulson claimed third place in the 1600 meter run and Skylar Bitzan was sixth in the 100 meter dash.
Ashby-Brandon-Evansville will compete again on Thursday night at Wadena.
