The Ottertail Central baseball team started off hot on Tuesday night in Wadena, putting up the first six runs of the game in the first two innings.  Wadena-Deer Creek pushed across 5 runs in the third, however, OTC was able to hold them off for a 10-8 victory over the Wolverines.

Kobe Snyder, Connor Davis, Evan Lunde, Peyton Church and Grant Seelhammer all drove in runs for Wadena-Deer Creek.  The Wolverines finished the game with 11 hits as Church, Tyson Barthel and Snyder each racked up multiple hits in the game.

Gavin Pausch and Tyson Misegades each had three hits to lead the Bulldogs.  Lane Dilly (6.2IP, 10H, 8R, 3K, 1BB) pitched the Bulldogs to victory and Noah Link threw one-third of an inning of relief out of the bullpen, recording the save.  OTC was leading by 2 runs with two outs and two men on base when link came into the game.  Dilly said this about Link’s efforts on the mound, “Noah really stepped up for us.  This was his first outing of the year and it was in a big spot.”

“Things got dicey in that third inning, but overall it was good to see how we would react,” said OTC Head Coach Ryan Hendrickson.  “I was really pleased to see the guys step up to the challenge and bear down.  It’s not like we made many mistakes.  Wadena just hit line drives to the gaps and we understood that we cannot always control that and just had to make the plays that we are able to.  Dilly did a great job working through the tough inning and was still able to give us six-and-two-thirds on the mound.  He would have loved to finish the game but couldn’t as he hit his pitch count maximum of 105.  Dilly and all of our guys really showed some grit tonight.  I am really pleased with their efforts.”

Ottertail Central has a 7-1 overall record and a 5-1 record in the Park Region Conference.
