“In the first game, our defense was not very sharp as we had some costly errors that hurt us against an aggressive, athletic team like Barnesville,” stated Pelican Rapids Head Coach Derrick Nelson.  “We had some opportunities in game two as we left 13 base runners stranded in the contest.  Barnesville made clutch defensive plays when they needed to.”

Hitting leaders for the Vikings in game one were Claudia Gurath (3-3, 2RBI, R), Kia Nelson (1-3, R), Ava Simpson (0-1, BB, HBP, RBI) and Sylvia Pesch (0-1, R, 2BB).  Zayla Arrow (5IP, 5K, 8H, 12BB, 9ER) took the loss in the circle.

Kia Nelson (6IP, 4K, 1BB, 6H, 2ER) was the losing pitcher in game two.  The Vikings were led at the plate by Nelson (2-4, RBI), Gurath (2-4), Pesch (1-3, R, RBI, BB) and Addison Walters (0-1, R, 2BB).

Pelican Rapids will travel to Rothsay on Thursday for a 5:00pm contest.
