The Alexandria Varsity Girls Golf Team traveled to Willmar to play in the 2nd Central Lakes Conference Meet.  This event was held at the Eagle Creek Golf Club, which is a course the lady Cards played one week ago.  It was the same golf course, but very different playing conditions!

“WOW was the wind blowing,” exclaimed Head Coach Tim Zupfer of Alexandria.  “We also did not play preferred lies.  All in all, this made for a challenging day to score.  Nevertheless, our Cardinals found themselves atop the leaderboard with some solid scoring.  It was a smaller meet, as both Brainerd and Fergus Falls had conflicts and did not attend.”

Alexandria recorded a winning total of 342 strokes, with Sartell a distant second with 392.  They were followed by Willmar 415, St. Cloud Crush 426, Rocori 463 and Sauk Rapids-Rice (INC).

Hannah Boraas led Alexandria with a 78 (42-36) to claim the medalist honors and winning the individual title by just one stroke over teammate Aislinig O’Connor who had a 79 (39-40).  Third place went to another Cardinal golfer, Rachel Bowen, with an 86 (43-43).  Kennedy Ellingson shot a new personal best score of 99 (52-47) to round out the four scoring members of the team, taking eighth place.  Ellie Sticha tied for tenth with a 102 (52-50) and Ella Houska tied for 12th place with a personal best score of 104 (51-53).

“This was the start to a very busy week of play for our team,” noted Coach Zupfer.  “We head to Brainerd Tuesday to play another CLC meet, are at Minnewaska on Friday for an Invitational, and then host an Invitational at The Geneva Golf Club on Saturday.  We will rotate a number of different players into the lineup this week.”
