Brandon-Evansville collected 15 runs on 15 hits in a 15-9 victory over Wheaton/Herman-Norcross in game one of their softball double header on Thursday.  The Warriors came back strong in game two, posting a 3-1 win over the Chargers behind the two-hit pitching of Jadyn Kellen (5IP, 2H, 1R, 0ER, 2BB, 5K).

“We knew this would be a tough matchup coming into tonight and it definitely was,” stated Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Kasi Sieling. “Game 1 was back and forth, with an eventful 6th inning for both teams. Throughout the game Wheaton hit the ball hard and took advantage of the extra opportunities we gave them. After getting down by 4 in the 6th inning, the girls chose to fight and put together a huge 6th inning rally to come out ahead. We had a lot of girls really step up to make this a great team win. Taylin Kramer threw the ball well and Claire Boesl came in and got us out of a tough inning and finished the game strong. Hallie Richter (2-5, 3R, 2B, SB) did an excellent job of executing her game plan and putting the ball in play. It was awesome to see senior Kendra Klimek (1-4, 2RBI, R) take advantage of chances she was given and hit the ball well tonight.”

Kylee Dingwall drove in 6 runs in the opener, collecting 4 hits in 5 at bats, including a double.  Sophie Koep was 2-for-4 with four runs batted in and two runs scored, and Tahira Schaffran was 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.  Top hitters for Wheaton were Megyn Kelly (2-4, 3B, 2RBI, R), Hadley Berger (1-3, 2RBI, R, 2B), Jordyn Perry (2-4, 2B, 2RBI, R), Alexa Blume (2-4, RBI, R, SB), Emily Drewicke (1-3, 2B, RBI, 2R) and Anna Bright (2-3, R).

Anna Bright and Hadley Berger delivered run-scoring singles and Emily Drewicke came through with a RBI double to lead the Warriors in game two.  Brandon-Evansville received singles from Richter and Klimek.  Richter, Kramer and Madi Stich each stole a base for the Chargers.

“We gave up runs early in game two and just weren’t able to find our groove in the batter’s box to come from behind in this one,” noted Coach Sieling. “Kylee Dingwall (4IP, 3H, 3ER, 3BB, 3K) did a great job of battling in the circle and the defense played well behind her.”
