Spartans Drop Baseball Double Header to Central Lakes

M State dropped a pair of baseball games to Central Lakes College in Brainerd on Tuesday, losing 5-0 and 10-3. 

The Spartans managed only three hits in the opener with singles from Luke Ruter and Eoghan Fisher, and a double from Mike Short.  Central Lakes pitcher Noah Cekalla was in command on the mound, striking out 11 and not walking a batter in firing a complete game.  Hitting leaders for the Raiders were Rylee Rauch (3-3, 2B, 2RBI, R, SF), Leo Villa (2-3, RBI, R), Ivan Villa (2-3, 2R), Mason Argir (1-2, RBI, SF) and Jack Thorn (1-3 RBI).  Brett Engelmeyer (6IP, 11H, 5ER, 2K, 0BB) pitched a complete game for the Spartans.

In game two, Ian Staton (2-3) had a pair of hits to lead M State and Jackson Martin delivered a 2-run double and scored a run, going 1-for-2 at the plate.  Eoghan Fisher was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Logan Pulju collected one hit in two at bats, scoring a run.  Luis Diaz (6IP, 6H, 3ER, 1BB, 9K) was the winning pitcher for Central Lakes.  Offensive leaders were Ivan Villa (2-4, HR, 2B, 2RBI, 2R), Turner Locken (3-3, BB, 2RBI, R), Beau Lepel (2-3, 2B, RBI, 2R, BB), Noah Cekalla (2-5, 2B, R), Mason Argir (2-3, RBI, 2R, 2BB) and Adam (Deuce) Braun (1-3, 2RBI, R).

The double header scheduled for Saturday in Willmar has been cancelled.  The Sunday double header with St. Cloud Technical and Community College has been moved to Tuesday at M State, with game one starting at 1:00pm.
