Brandon-Evansville rallied with six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Ashby 8-7 in game one of their Little Eight Conference baseball double header in Evansville on Tuesday, and then the Chargers had another six-run inning to win the nightcap, 9-1, despite managing only two hits in the game.

Landon Sullivan was the beneficiary of the big seventh inning comeback in game one, earning the victory on the mound.  Ashby took a 4-2 lead into the seventh, but added three more runs to build a 7-2 cushion heading into the bottom of the inning.  The comeback was capped off by Riley Perleberg’s walk-off double that scored Colton Breitkreutz and Kian Gackle

“It really was a crazy seventh innings with Ashby pulling away in the top half and our rally in the bottom half,” stated Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Brian Perleberg.  “It definitely was a game our kids won’t forget.”

Hitting leaders were Riley Perleberg (2-4, 2 2B, 3RBI, BB) and Hunter Grothen (1-3, 2B, BB).  Carter White and Brady Perleberg also added hits for the Chargers.

Dezmond White (5IP, 4H, 1ER, 4K) was the winning pitcher in game two.

“The temperatures and the wind made things very difficult for both teams in the second game,” said Coach Perleberg.  “Fortunately, we were able to play much better defensively than we did in the first game and got quality pitching from Dezmond White.”

Carter White and Dezmond White each had one hit to lead the Chargers.
