The Ottertail Central baseball team was trailing New York Mills 6-4 in the top of the seventh inning when Hunter Haugen delivered a 3-run double to give them a 7-6 lead on the way to an 8-6 victory over the Eagles.  Haugen had 5 RBI on the night, including a home run in the sixth inning as he finished 2-for-4 at the plate.

The Bulldogs totaled 12 hits on the day with Jayden Harig leading the way with 3 safeties in 3 at bats.  Gavin Pausch also had multiple hits in the game.  Garrett Nelson knocked in Pausch with a base hit in the first inning.

New York Mills collected seven hits on the day, with Jonah Ruther and Teagan Lausten each contributed two.  Brayden Ehnert connected for a solo home run in the first inning and the Eagles had RBI hits from Monte Briard and Will Oakes in the third.

Kale Misegades (3.1IP, 3K, 3H, 2R) earned the win in relief of Pausch (2.2IP, 2K, 1BB, 4H, 4R).  Lane Dilly recorded the final three outs to earn the save.

Oakes (6IP, 4R, 8H, 8K, 1BB) started the game for New York Mills.

OTC Head Coach Ryan Hendrickson was pleased with his team, “We were solid on both sides of the game tonight.  We made all of our routine defensive plays, while making several plus plays on defense.  Notably, Dilly made a nice dive at third on a ground ball and threw the runner out at first.  Owen Harig made several ranging plays from short and Kale Misegades had two plays at second base, ranging to his glove side.  Haugen also picked some balls at first base.  Offensively, we were clutch with big hits with guys in scoring positions.  Haugen’s 5 RBI night was huge.  Our pitching was solid, really putting us in a good spot to keep the game within striking reach at the end.”

The Bulldogs will not have a lot of rest this week as they play against Tuesday night, have a double header at Northwestern University on Thursday against Bertha-Hewitt and a single game at home on Friday versus Parkers Prairie.
