Yellowjackets Open Baseball Season with 12-5 Win at St. Charles

Gage Aanenson singled, homered, drove in 3 runs and scored twice to spark the Perham Yellowjackets to a 12-5 win over St. Charles in the opening game of the 2023 high school baseball season.  Perham collected 9 hits and drew 6 walks.

Aanenson (2-4, 3RBI, 2R, HR), Gamble Bye (2-5, RBI, 2R, 2 2B) and Ashton Detloff (1-3, 2RBI) led Perham at the plate.  Austin Schmelz (1-4, RBI, R, 2B) and Ben Shumansky (1-4, R, 2B) also contributed hits.  

Detloff (3IP, 3H, 5R, 0ER, 2K, 1BB) got the start on the mound.  Evan Kovash (4IP, 1H, 0R, 3K, 1BB) pitched four scoreless innings of one-hit relief to earn the victory.
