Rothsay and Ashby got their softball seasons going with a double header on Thursday.  The Tigers swept the Arrows, winning 16-5 and 7-1.

Katie Reber pitched six innings in game one, allowing 6 hits, 5 runs and striking out 7 batters.  Rothsay backed her up by scoring five first inning runs and adding seven more in the second.  Kinsey Heier knocked in a pair of runs.  Elli Meyer, McKenzie Tillman, Madison Tillman and Grace Carlsrud each contributed a hit for the Tigers.

In game two, Rothsay scored all seven of their runs in the first inning.  Bethany Danielson pitched 5 innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out seven.  Madison Tillman and Allison Phillips collected hits for the Tigers.

“It was great to finally get outdoors and play some softball,” said Rothsay Head Coach Anita Heier.  “Our pitchers and catchers have worked hard this past month in the gym and it really showed today.  They threw well and really took control of the game.  I was a bit concerned about our defense coming into today with no practices outdoors, but the girls’ stepped up and made the plays all night.  It was a fun way to start the season.”

Ashby stats and highlights will be added to this story once they are received.
