Mike Anderson begins his first year as head coach of the West Central Area baseball team. The Knights will look to improve on their 5-10 record of a year ago. Anderson will be assisted by Tim Riley, Brandon Gruchow and George Wevley. Colton Lindquist and Ashton Danner will serve as team captains.
“This team is full of kids that love baseball and they love to play baseball with their friends and teammates,” said Coach Anderson. “We will focus on fundamentals. Our pitchers will focus on keeping the walks issued low. Our hitters will focus on hitting good pitches and having a purposeful approach to each plate appearance.”
Joining Lindquist and Danner as returning letter winners are seniors Cole Bruss, Ty Fuhs, Brayden Stark and Jacob Strunk, and juniors Dane Anderson, Jack Courrier, Brady Lindquist and Bryce Kjesbo.
Juniors Carter Lohse, Adam Lohse and Will Rustan, and sophomores Ben Bye, Cash Nelson and Owen Sanstead will also be in the varsity mix.
Anderson says Minnewaska Area and Morris are the top teams in the West Central Conference and Section 6AA.
