In his first year as head coach of the Breckenridge-Wahpeton softball team, Jake Dodge led his team to a 9-11 overall record, a 5-7 Heart O’ Lakes Conference mark, and a spot in the Section 8AA Final Four. Catcher Ana Erickson and first baseman Anaka Lysne were lost to graduation, however, a number of experienced players return.
“We will be very competitive this year,” said Coach Dodge. “We have a great group returning that gained valuable experience last year throughout the regular season and playoffs.”
Returning letter winners include seniors Abby Johnson (SS), McKenna Koolmo (2B), Emma Etzler (IF) and Abi Bronson (OF), juniors Mia Dodge (P/OF) and Leah Devries (OF), sophomore Sydni Roberts (C/UT) and freshman Adi Dodge (3B/C). Sophomore Irella Bautista (P/1B) is also expected to make varsity contributions.
Dodge sees DGF and Hawley as the main challengers in the HOL.
